Andrew Kooy

Some may call George, WA the podunkiest hometown any Peauxdunquian (peauxdunquer? Peauxdunquist?) hails from, but Andrew Kooy calls it that boring place he grew up in. Andrew wandered the Pacific Northwest for years before realizing he was allowed to write his own stories, which not-so-magically transported him to New Orleans. He received his MFA in Fiction from the University of New Orleans Creative Writing Workshop where he taught freshman composition and interned with Bayou Magazine while managing to keep his newborn daughter alive. By day he continues to keep his daughter alive, but at night she must fend for herself so he can write. His Fiction and Creative Nonfiction has been published in Barely South Review, The Stockholm Review of Literature, Ricky’s Backyard, and Blood and Thunder.
